The questions every Australian owner asks first.

Handing work to someone in another country is a big step. Here’s what it’s actually like.

  • Will I find someone good?

You meet people with the experience you asked for: the same week from people we already know, or in about two weeks when we recruit to your brief. You decide who joins.

  • Will they be online when we are?

Yes. Manila is two or three hours behind the east coast and on the same time as Perth, so your person works your day. No waiting overnight for answers.

  • Will they get how we work?

English is widely used in Philippine business and education, and you’ll judge it yourself in the interview. Your person works full-time, only for you, in your tools.

  • What if something’s not right?

Raise it with your client success manager and we sort it, even the messy stuff. If your hire doesn’t work out in the first six months, for any reason, we recruit again at no cost.

Will they really work Australian hours?

Yes. Manila is two hours behind Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, three when the south-east is on daylight saving, and on the same time as Perth. A 9am start in Sydney is a 7am or 6am start for your person; in Perth it’s 9am for both of you.

You agree the hours before they start, including daylight saving and public holidays. Pick your city to see both clocks.

What will it actually cost me?

One price per person a month, in Australian dollars. Salary, employment, payroll, health cover, leave, a laptop and support are all in it.

Comparing with a local hire? Add up the salary, super, payroll tax where it applies, workers’ compensation, leave cover, recruitment fees, a desk and a laptop. That’s the number to hold this against.

Is it legal, and what am I on the hook for?

We’re your person’s legal employer in the Philippines (an employer of record). You choose who joins and lead their work. We handle the rest.

How Ramp EOR works
  1. Do I need to set up a company over there?

No. There’s no Philippine entity to register, no local bank account and no payroll to learn. Your person’s employment contract is with us.

  2. Do I withhold tax or pay super?

No. Your person is employed by us in the Philippines, not by your business in Australia, so there’s no PAYG withholding or super to pay. You get one monthly invoice, and your accountant can tell you how to treat it.

  3. Isn’t it simpler to pay a contractor?

It looks simpler. But someone who works like an employee and is paid as a contractor can challenge that under Philippine law. With us they’re an employee, with 13th-month pay, leave and contributions paid.

  4. Already paying someone as a contractor?

We can move them onto an employment contract with us, without a break in their work.

You can meet people the same week if we already know someone who fits, or in about two weeks when we recruit to your brief. Once you’ve chosen, we agree a start date with you both and sort out their contract, equipment and onboarding.
